Last Saturday Whitehill had a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Civil service Strollers despite taking a first half lead through Wayne McIntosh. This Saturday we are away to Tynecastle in the first round of the King Cup, kick off 2.00pm.

Whitehill Welfare manager Rab Paget has resigned his position after 10 months at the helm. We were all disappointed after our 4-1 defeat to Spartans last Saturday but we feel it has been a promising season so far, including a cup final appearance last month. After the game Rab decided to hand in his resignation which we reluctantly accepted. We have enjoyed having Rab at Whitehill and wish him all the best for the future. Assistant manager Grant Carnie has agreed to step in as caretaker manager and will take charge of team affairs tomorrow afternoon for our home match against Civil Service Strollers.

The Spartans 4 Whitehill Welfare 1. It all started so well at Ainslie Park yesterday with a strong start and opening goal from Alex Munro after 15 minutes. The Spartans came back into it though and the scores were level at the break. The second half saw Welfare struggling to contain an excellent home side and a Gavin Malin penalty was followed by a quick fire double through John Grant and Omar Kader as Spartans ran out comfortable and deserved winners. We host Civil Service Strollers at Ferguson Park next Saturday and hopefully we can get back on track.

Whitehill Welfare 2 Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale 3. Disappointment for Whitehill yesterday afternoon as we went down to a spirited Lothian side. A great Mikey Herd strike had us front at the break. However a quick Lothian double turned the game on its head. Willie Kidd made it 2-2 but a late goal sealed the points for the visitors. Next up is a trip to The Spartans next Saturday, 14th January. match report and photos

We played two festive friendlies over Christmas at Ainslie Park. On Tuesday 27th December we won 3-2 against Penicuik Athletic. New signing Kyle Boggie opened the scoring before Willie Kidd made it 2-0. Penicuik pulled one back before Steven Manson added a third for Whitehill. Penicuik netted a late consolation to make the full time score 3-2. On Friday 30th December we faced Newtongrange Star - once again at Ainslie Park. Against the run of play Wayne McIntosh opened the scoring before Star turned it around to lead 2-1. Steven Manson salvaged a draw with a second half goal.
