19th July:

Whitehill Welfare 2 Dundee United XI 0. The lads continued their encouraging pre-season form with a hard fought win over a young Dundee United side. After the commitee had spent all day cutting, forking and lining the Fergie Park pitch a deluge of rain around about 5.00pm left standing water in many places while Peter calmly watched on. Thankfully a quick check found that the Poltonhall Astroturf was available and the game was moved with a 7.30pm kick off. Many thanks to the coaches and players at Salters FC Amatuers who train at Poltonhall every Tuesday and very kindly vacated the pitch to allow the game to go ahead. A first half goal from Wayne McIntosh and a second after the break from Paddy Bonthrone secured a well deserved win. Hopefully the players didn't scoff all the pies left unsold back at the clubhouse and undo all the good work!
