Whitehill Welfare 7 Easthouses Lily 1

Ferguson Park witnessed a goalfest last Saturday - Whitehill clicking into top gear as they brushed aside First Division Lily to reach the second round of the South Challenge Cup.
Welfare were without suspended Patty Bonthrone and injured Mike Bruce but welcomed back Wayne McIntosh from holiday.
McIntosh wasted no time in adding to his season’s goals tally, converting a Moffat cross at the back post with only 6 minutes gone. 6 minutes later it was Moffat doing the spadework again as Manson netted for 2-0.
Another 6 minutes and Mikey Herd was fouled as he burst through on the left. Jim Young fairly blasted home the resultant spot kick.
In 25 minutes it was 4-0 as McIntosh finished off a through ball.
Easthouses then had their best effort of the first half, a shot going just wide.

Whitehill were forced to make 3 changes at half time, as Moffat had taken a knock, and Herd and Somerville were ill. Wayne Sproule came on, alongside new signings Andrew Sinclair and Dayne Robertson.

Within 5 minutes of the restart Welfare were 5 up. Manson was played in on the left and the keeper made a great block, but the rebound was hammered home by McIntosh for his hat trick.
After 55 minutes a McIntosh header came back off the bar then a Sproule chip was held by the Lily keeper.
Easthouses had a rare shot wide on the break but got their reward in 64 minutes as a wayward back pass by Andrew Kidd was punished for 5-1.
At the other end a Manson header landed on top of the net before the same player combined with Sproule and blasted high into the net for 6-1. With 6 minutes to play, the unmarked Sproule completed the scoring.

Whitehill: Walker; Young, Hall, W.Kidd, Thom; Manson, A.Kidd, Herd (D. Robertson), Moffat (Sproule); Somerville (Sinclair), McIntosh.
