In a game delayed by around 45 minutes, following a knee injury sustained by Whitehill's Darren McCraw, the home side prevailed to secure their first win of the season.

It had been McCraw who opened the scoring on 27 minutes finishing off a great passing move with a clinical finish from 15 yards.

Before that Whitehill were inches away from taking the lead when a Hamish Hunter shot came back off the post and was collected on the line by Bryn Halliwell in goal.

After the ambulance had left with McCraw the final 10 minutes of the first half were played with no real incident.

6 minutes after the break Welfare doubled their lead when another fine team goal built from the back resulted in Scott Gormley squaring for Kyle Mitchell to tap in.

Just before the hour mark Edusport got themselves right back in it. Thomas Garnier was played clear and he calmly finished past Ross Jardine.

They threatened an equaliser but on 64 minutes James McPartlin sealed the home win collected a long diagonal ball from Hamish Hunter and slotting in.
