U20s lose top spot after City defeat

A bit of a sore one tonight as our young side fell 2 goals behind in a first half they had enjoyed the best of. The visitors took the lead on 29 minutes when a headed attempt at goal took a ricochet and the ball was poked over the line by a grateful City forward.

Whitehill pushed for a quick equaliser and Kai Austin and Cammy Watson both had efforts on goal, but City broke and doubled their advantage with 34 minutes played. A well struck shot from 20 yards beat Ross Jardine to his left.

Top scorer Declan Knox twice went close either side of the break, and Kai Austin hit the post, as the home side chased a goal back. It came just short of the hour mark when Knox was tripped in the area, and Lee Barrett scored for the 4th game in a row from the penalty spot. Whitehill had Edinburgh City penned in, with Kyle Brockie overlapping down the left, and Ciaran McKenzie through the middle causing them lots of problems, but they held on for the win.
