Defeat for U20s

Tonight’s U20s result ... Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale 3 Whitehill Welfare 1

A slow start from our young side proved costly tonight at Meggetland ,as Lothian raced into a 2-0 lead, that we simply never recovered from.

With 10 minutes played the Trialist Whitehill keeper was forced into a good save coming off his line and Kai Austin did well to deflect the follow up over the bar. From the resultant corner kick the home side took the lead. The ball was cleared to the Lothian number 11 out wide and his cross / shot beat the keeper and found the far corner of the net.

A few minutes later it was 2-0, when the Lothian attack found space in the Welfare box,  and finished from close range.

Whitehill searched for a way back into the game with Declan Knox having a couple of chances, and substitute Robbie Walker saw an effort cleared off the line.

The home side were reduced to 10 men after a second yellow card was shown to their number 11, however with 89 minutes on the clock they made it 3-0. In injury time Bradley Barrett netted a consolation goal, before being red carded following a tussle with a home defender, trying to get the ball out of the net.
